tabbycatwitch:

Hey, guys! I’ve noticed that there are a lot of artists who struggle with “same face syndrome,” or the tendency to draw all their characters with the same face. To help you combat this, I’ve created two different challenges!

The first (pink) one is mainly geared towards artists who are struggling with same face syndrome and want to start branching out. It covers topics that a lot of artists struggle with when drawing faces, such as age, weight, and face shapes. It’s not super specific, so you still have some wiggle room.

The second (yellow) one is a bit harder and is mainly geared towards artists who want to really challenge themselves to diversify their faces. Personally, I think this one’s the most fun to work with despite it being more difficult. Chances are with this one, you’re not going to be drawing a whole bunch of beautiful people. You don’t have to roll for every option on this one either.  A certain combination of rolls from 10/13 of the options may give you a great character idea, and that’s great!

I hope you guys enjoy these! I’d love for you to send me your drawings if you do one (or both) of them.

Day 3 of the 30 Day Drawing Challenge

3) Genderbend

I don’t like the idea of characters looking massively different when genderbent. Some…might, but Torie wouldn’t. I didn’t change his facial structure much; I contoured it differently, since different hormones mean different weight distribution, and gave him longer hair….and of course his chest scar has rather unfortunate placement when breasts are added haha oh wellehI suppose a bust is more than a headshot as per rules :b I was going to do more with this and since I’m late uploading everything ANYWAY I should have re-opened my sketch and done more, but I’m still pretty beat.

Day 2 of the 30 Day Drawing Challenge

2) Copy the style of another artist

I put way more thought in to this than I should have, and I’m going to be seeing peridot’s colourscheme in my nightmares for years to come. Also holy crap I don’t copy styles well.

Finished this on time, but forgot to upload it. ;o; Since I have it saved on my phone, I’ll upload here. Haha, I’ll try to get the others uploaded when I’m able to actually sit down at my computer. This one definitely made me realize I really don’t like Artrage’s inking tools. (I have a feeling with practice I’ll come to like the stabilization, but I felt like I had very little control over it, and the stabilization was far too over-zealous.)

I miss photoshop. ;-;
