Our final long pose. It came together quickly and I’m pretty pleased with it.

Our first long pose.

Our first longer pose/sketch today.

Warmup sketches from today in charcoal.
I think any problems all semester were a result of my getting a bad batch of charcoal. I was given some to borrow (same brand!) and the difference was night and day. No scratchy wood bits.
Our model didn’t show today, so we did (really quick) portraits of each other instead.
My portraiture falls apart when it’s that fast, wow haha
We had no real warmup, but I was definitely working faster by the end. After the first portrait I also borrowed some charcoal from the school’s supplies, because the charcoal I had was gouging the paper. ._.

I had already done the exercise today for Figure Drawing in an earlier Expanded Field class, so I was told to work on a self portrait while everyone else fiddled with ink.
Not sure I got a very good likeness but it was fairly quick work I guess.

The bright light was gone for this pose and it was very hard to tell what I was seeing. Black on black. I just guessed.

Standing pose wasn’t too hard. I understood the turtleneck’s texture by this point and the pose didn’t create difficult shadows.

Removing the coat made her attire much harder to understand. So much black. At this point there was a bright light that lit up clothes so I could see textures.
